Quick & Easy Guide for How to Post to a WordPress Blog
Beginning: your WordPress Blog
To begin blogging, Login to your WordPress website and select the Add New button under posts. And in case you’ve forgotten how to login: yourwebsitename.com/wp-admin

Step 1: Once there, You’ll give your blog article a Title.
Then type what you’d like to say in the content box provided. For beginners, I recommend making sure your box is set to Visual vs Text; The tab Visual is usually set as a default. (See top left of Content Box for the Visual & Text Tab. The text tab shows coding.)
Step 2: Image Inserts for WordPress Blog
Look for a “Feature Image” box under the Tags and Category box on the dashboard of your new post.
You’ll click there and upload your Featured Image. (This is the image that will be set large above the content of your post.) For websites, it is best to use photo software such as photoshop to “save your image for web devices”; this will help your image be a small file size so it loads quicker for visitors. It also saves you from using space in your disk space usage (the amount of space your host provides to you in your hosting plan).
If you want to place in an image inside your content, you’ll use the Insert button shown above your content box. Make sure your cursor is set where you want the image to insert. Depending on your WordPress version, you’ll Hit Insert > add Media or the Add Media button will already be there to choose. Read and follow prompts and your image should be a simple process to insert.

Step 3: Categories for WordPress Blog
Once you’re done writing your post, you’ll want to give your post a category. Correctly categorizing your post is important.
Your site archives every post, so if you are not categorizing posts or if you are categorizing posts incorrectly, your site will not be very useful to visitors.
Put a check mark on the correct category (See Image 2). If you do not have the appropriate category to select, then you will “Add New Category” (It will be listed at the bottom of the posts category box.
Editing Categories for WordPress Blogs: Should you need to edit a category, simply click on the Categories button under Posts (see Image 1). Select the name of the category you want to edit and it will open allowing you to edit. Note: Be sure to edit the slug when you edit your category (See Image 3).
And sometimes you may even want to give your categories a parent. For example…
If your categories were: We’ve Read, We’ve Read 2015, We’ve Read 2016, then I’d want to make We’ve Read the Parent to the other two.

Step 4: Tags for WordPress Blog
Tags are suggested for search engine purposes. Enter keywords and keyword phrases in one by one in the Tags box. It is located under the Categories box within the blog dashboard (see Image 1).
Step 5: Publish your WordPress Blog
Once you’re done, in the top right of your dashboard click: Publish and your blog will be live for the world to see. If you need to edit anything, edit what you need. Your Publish button only says Publish when the blog has never been published. Once you’ve published and you do an edit, the button will say Update. If you make a change anywhere without hitting Update, changes will not be saved.
